Longtime no see.

Well to those who are subscribed to this lj, you'll probably realize I've not really been posting much.Unfortunately I've just not had a lot of time to do so.

Ever since I started the new job, at Rhythm and Hues (check previous posts) things have been a little "upside down" for me. I've been getting up later, and using my time differently. Posting has of yet not been officially put into my schedule of things to do each day, and it's something I wanna start finding time for.

I do have a lot of things to talk about thats for sure.

Since the last Time I posted, I've been to the San Diego Comic Con and Just visited Florida.

Come to think of it I still haven't uploaded all my photos from Comic Con to my picassa, I need to start doing that.

Anyway Hopefully I'll get time to post some more real soon and tell all who are interested , all about my wacky misadventures :).

new beginnings ;)

Well today was the first day of many days at my new place of work. Rhythm and Hues (www.rhythm.com). I'm so damn happy for working at this new place, that i could barely contain myself. I was practically smiling the whole day :P.

The day started with me driving from home (Cerritos,ca) to the companies building near LAX. I was supposed to get there at 9:30. Luckily i gave myself enough time, but the drive wasn't pleasant. Understandably because i live so far, but my commute could have been worse. I got to the office on time, and dealt with the first portion of the day, HR paperwork. Before that I met with another new recruit, Dane, I think it was Dane..or maybe Dwayne, couldn't understand him too well with his Texan accent. Interesting guy. He had gotten another position in another department, so i didn't see him for the rest of the day.

Next was lunch, which my supervisor Harrison, took me and Fred (the guy training me) out. We hit up a local place , called the Shack. It was pretty damn good, mainly burgers and sandwiches. During lunch I got a chance to know Harrison and Fred better, and I was able to clarify a few things. Specifically when my hours were. To my amazement Harrison told me that I could work Monday through Friday, and have Saturday and Sunday be my days off. Previously, we had agreed my days off were Thursday and Friday, so when i heard I could work Monday through Friday only, I was pretty happy. Now i can hang out and do stuff on the weekend, like a normal person :). Unfortunately i lose my Friday nites, I'll still be working M-F 4pm to 1am, so Friday nite outings won't be happening :(. But my schedule is pretty nice from what i was offered several weeks ago. :)

After Lucnh, I had an educational portion, which i was given an overview of the company. We went over the In's and Out's of the company and what each department does. We also went over some basic websites that would be useful for me. There was also a pretty extensive tour of the whole studio which was pretty nice too. After this portion of the day was over, i went over a little training with Fred, and started learning more of the technical concepts my job would be dealing with.

Overall, i had a pretty good first day. Learned a whole lot, and met some really awesome people. I'm really liking it here, the people are great , my supervisor is really laid back and understanding, and the atmosphere is just excellent. Very much looking forward to sticking with this company for sometime. :)

Oh and Heroes was fucking amazing tonite. God i love that show! :D

To all things...

Well Thursday was my last day at my old job. I decided to just leave slightly earlier (instead of leaving Friday), after my boss came forward to me and told me on wed i could earlier. Even though i was just coming off this cold, i decided to just go for it, wanted to be well and rested for my new job Monday. Plus the job was boring as hell.

The funny thing is, as I was cleaning up my desk and as my co-workers were saying their goodbyes and good lucks, I slowly realized i was going to miss this place and the people. Despite the job being very boring, the people were good, and i was just getting to know them. It's funny how you develop these relationships over the days, the daily comradery. Then one day its gone.

But onto bigger and better things!

The new job looks really good. It's going to be tough, but I'm really looking forward to the challenge. I'm also looking forward to working with people that are closer to my age, and not having to wear "business casual". Rock t-shirts and Jeans from here on out baby!! :D

First few week there, it looks likes I'll be working 10-7pm, Monday through Friday. This will be basically my training weeks. These first weeks will be tough for me, ill have to brave rush hour traffic, going into Los Angeles. Not fun. Monday i actually need to get there at 9:30, to take care of HR paper work. So Monday is going to be "extra fun". After that, to my knowledge ill be working 4pm to 1am Saturday through Wednesday. driving to work at that time, will be easier, at least.

Oh the stupidity.

Hey loyal readers. As you may know, I'm working my last days here at SASCO (www.sasco.com), in the custom programming department. I wouldn't so much say I'm "working" , more like "running the clock" if you know what I mean. I've been trying to actually pull my weight around, and look as if I'm doing "something". So i don't just get fired, that would look bad after all. :P

But i was just realizing how stupid this job is.

AWESOME

I just talked to Harrison Hays, the Render I/O lead at Rhythm and Hues, and my future boss. :) He was really helpful at answering my questions, and reassuring me that eventually (a few months) I'd be able to change my schedule. Furthermore he said I'd be able to change which days my "days off" would be, and he said i could do Thursdays and Fridays. which make me very happy.

So right now i could take Thursday's and Friday off, and still hang out with my compadres, on friday nites :). which means Sci-fi friday's or anything. this is awesome.

okay now time to calm down. And think about how to quit my current job.

It's funny , i feel really rotten for leaving this current job of mine. I've only been here 2 months and half, and im leaving. I feel like im betraying them. I really shouldn't feel anything, but i am. They have been pretty good to me, but it's a dead job, and not in the field i want to be in.

Wish me luck :).

Well isn't that great...

Well I'm not sure how many of your have been follow my escapades. But recently I had a few interviews at the visual effects company, Rhythm & Hues (www.rhythm.com). I hadn't heard from them, for a bout a week after they told me they would, so i kind of just thought they weren't interested in me. So i sort of just moved on, and continued my job where i am now.

Funny how things just creep up on you though. Last nite, i got an email from the Render I/O position saying how impressed they were at my interview, and offered me the job! That's the good news. The bad news is that I'd have to work weekends, 4pm to 1am wed-sunday. They want a one year commitment, to the department. I don't know yet (ill be calling them today) if that means a commitment also to the hours. We'll have to see.

Now, if someone offered me this a year ago, I wouldn't really care all that much. I've been very social this last year, and made a lot of cool new friends. If i took this job, I probably wouldn't see them for sometime. which really saddens me, I was just getting to know everyone.

So i have a dilemma, do i take this great opportunity with its odd hours, and kill my social life. Or do I stay in this dead end job, and get to hang out on weekends with shiny people?

Obviously, I'd be a dumbass not to take the job, so i basically will be. It just really sucks. I've been trying hard to be a bigger part of the SoCal browncoat and Buffy Meetup groups, but with this new change in my life those two things will have to be put on hold.

Though I'm sure I'll be able to make it to major events. And who knows after a few months I'll be able to get saturday's off or something. I guess i can only hope.

anyway any support would be awesome. thanks :)

"Finally a Professional"

I'm going through these Doctor Who episodes like crack, and having a really fun time too. On top of that I'm seeing our good 9th doctor on Heroes as well. It's great seeing him in Heroes, his character is pretty interesting, and it's nice seeing Eccleston in a different roll. I think Eccleston plays a very good "mentor" characters, or teachers i should say. Hell he's good at everything lol, a great actor indeed.

I just finished the episode "the empty child". It's the first appearance of Captain Jack Harkness(is that right?). After seeing a few episodes of Torchwood, it's interesting to see how Jack get's his start in the "Who-niverse". Further more what i love about this epsiode is that, it seems like even the doctor isn't 100 percent sure what's going on. Also it's kind of interesting to see another Time travler in the show, hopefully there are more :).

I took the title of this post from a quote of the same episode. Where Rose is with Jack, on top of his "chula" war ship, trying to find the Doctor. When she asks him "how will you find him?" he responds "I'll just do a scan for alien life", she then explains "finally... a professional". I think something like that happened :). Either way it made me laugh.

Oh and Heroes was awesome (as usual) last nite, wasn't it? It's interesting how all the characters are connected but don't know it! :)
