Longtime no see.

Well to those who are subscribed to this lj, you'll probably realize I've not really been posting much.Unfortunately I've just not had a lot of time to do so.

Ever since I started the new job, at Rhythm and Hues (check previous posts) things have been a little "upside down" for me. I've been getting up later, and using my time differently. Posting has of yet not been officially put into my schedule of things to do each day, and it's something I wanna start finding time for.

I do have a lot of things to talk about thats for sure.

Since the last Time I posted, I've been to the San Diego Comic Con and Just visited Florida.

Come to think of it I still haven't uploaded all my photos from Comic Con to my picassa, I need to start doing that.

Anyway Hopefully I'll get time to post some more real soon and tell all who are interested , all about my wacky misadventures :).

new beginnings ;)

Well today was the first day of many days at my new place of work. Rhythm and Hues (www.rhythm.com). I'm so damn happy for working at this new place, that i could barely contain myself. I was practically smiling the whole day :P.

The day started with me driving from home (Cerritos,ca) to the companies building near LAX. I was supposed to get there at 9:30. Luckily i gave myself enough time, but the drive wasn't pleasant. Understandably because i live so far, but my commute could have been worse. I got to the office on time, and dealt with the first portion of the day, HR paperwork. Before that I met with another new recruit, Dane, I think it was Dane..or maybe Dwayne, couldn't understand him too well with his Texan accent. Interesting guy. He had gotten another position in another department, so i didn't see him for the rest of the day.

Next was lunch, which my supervisor Harrison, took me and Fred (the guy training me) out. We hit up a local place , called the Shack. It was pretty damn good, mainly burgers and sandwiches. During lunch I got a chance to know Harrison and Fred better, and I was able to clarify a few things. Specifically when my hours were. To my amazement Harrison told me that I could work Monday through Friday, and have Saturday and Sunday be my days off. Previously, we had agreed my days off were Thursday and Friday, so when i heard I could work Monday through Friday only, I was pretty happy. Now i can hang out and do stuff on the weekend, like a normal person :). Unfortunately i lose my Friday nites, I'll still be working M-F 4pm to 1am, so Friday nite outings won't be happening :(. But my schedule is pretty nice from what i was offered several weeks ago. :)

After Lucnh, I had an educational portion, which i was given an overview of the company. We went over the In's and Out's of the company and what each department does. We also went over some basic websites that would be useful for me. There was also a pretty extensive tour of the whole studio which was pretty nice too. After this portion of the day was over, i went over a little training with Fred, and started learning more of the technical concepts my job would be dealing with.

Overall, i had a pretty good first day. Learned a whole lot, and met some really awesome people. I'm really liking it here, the people are great , my supervisor is really laid back and understanding, and the atmosphere is just excellent. Very much looking forward to sticking with this company for sometime. :)

Oh and Heroes was fucking amazing tonite. God i love that show! :D

To all things...

Well Thursday was my last day at my old job. I decided to just leave slightly earlier (instead of leaving Friday), after my boss came forward to me and told me on wed i could earlier. Even though i was just coming off this cold, i decided to just go for it, wanted to be well and rested for my new job Monday. Plus the job was boring as hell.

The funny thing is, as I was cleaning up my desk and as my co-workers were saying their goodbyes and good lucks, I slowly realized i was going to miss this place and the people. Despite the job being very boring, the people were good, and i was just getting to know them. It's funny how you develop these relationships over the days, the daily comradery. Then one day its gone.

But onto bigger and better things!

The new job looks really good. It's going to be tough, but I'm really looking forward to the challenge. I'm also looking forward to working with people that are closer to my age, and not having to wear "business casual". Rock t-shirts and Jeans from here on out baby!! :D

First few week there, it looks likes I'll be working 10-7pm, Monday through Friday. This will be basically my training weeks. These first weeks will be tough for me, ill have to brave rush hour traffic, going into Los Angeles. Not fun. Monday i actually need to get there at 9:30, to take care of HR paper work. So Monday is going to be "extra fun". After that, to my knowledge ill be working 4pm to 1am Saturday through Wednesday. driving to work at that time, will be easier, at least.

Oh the stupidity.

Hey loyal readers. As you may know, I'm working my last days here at SASCO (www.sasco.com), in the custom programming department. I wouldn't so much say I'm "working" , more like "running the clock" if you know what I mean. I've been trying to actually pull my weight around, and look as if I'm doing "something". So i don't just get fired, that would look bad after all. :P

But i was just realizing how stupid this job is.

AWESOME

I just talked to Harrison Hays, the Render I/O lead at Rhythm and Hues, and my future boss. :) He was really helpful at answering my questions, and reassuring me that eventually (a few months) I'd be able to change my schedule. Furthermore he said I'd be able to change which days my "days off" would be, and he said i could do Thursdays and Fridays. which make me very happy.

So right now i could take Thursday's and Friday off, and still hang out with my compadres, on friday nites :). which means Sci-fi friday's or anything. this is awesome.

okay now time to calm down. And think about how to quit my current job.

It's funny , i feel really rotten for leaving this current job of mine. I've only been here 2 months and half, and im leaving. I feel like im betraying them. I really shouldn't feel anything, but i am. They have been pretty good to me, but it's a dead job, and not in the field i want to be in.

Wish me luck :).

Well isn't that great...

Well I'm not sure how many of your have been follow my escapades. But recently I had a few interviews at the visual effects company, Rhythm & Hues (www.rhythm.com). I hadn't heard from them, for a bout a week after they told me they would, so i kind of just thought they weren't interested in me. So i sort of just moved on, and continued my job where i am now.

Funny how things just creep up on you though. Last nite, i got an email from the Render I/O position saying how impressed they were at my interview, and offered me the job! That's the good news. The bad news is that I'd have to work weekends, 4pm to 1am wed-sunday. They want a one year commitment, to the department. I don't know yet (ill be calling them today) if that means a commitment also to the hours. We'll have to see.

Now, if someone offered me this a year ago, I wouldn't really care all that much. I've been very social this last year, and made a lot of cool new friends. If i took this job, I probably wouldn't see them for sometime. which really saddens me, I was just getting to know everyone.

So i have a dilemma, do i take this great opportunity with its odd hours, and kill my social life. Or do I stay in this dead end job, and get to hang out on weekends with shiny people?

Obviously, I'd be a dumbass not to take the job, so i basically will be. It just really sucks. I've been trying hard to be a bigger part of the SoCal browncoat and Buffy Meetup groups, but with this new change in my life those two things will have to be put on hold.

Though I'm sure I'll be able to make it to major events. And who knows after a few months I'll be able to get saturday's off or something. I guess i can only hope.

anyway any support would be awesome. thanks :)

"Finally a Professional"

I'm going through these Doctor Who episodes like crack, and having a really fun time too. On top of that I'm seeing our good 9th doctor on Heroes as well. It's great seeing him in Heroes, his character is pretty interesting, and it's nice seeing Eccleston in a different roll. I think Eccleston plays a very good "mentor" characters, or teachers i should say. Hell he's good at everything lol, a great actor indeed.

I just finished the episode "the empty child". It's the first appearance of Captain Jack Harkness(is that right?). After seeing a few episodes of Torchwood, it's interesting to see how Jack get's his start in the "Who-niverse". Further more what i love about this epsiode is that, it seems like even the doctor isn't 100 percent sure what's going on. Also it's kind of interesting to see another Time travler in the show, hopefully there are more :).

I took the title of this post from a quote of the same episode. Where Rose is with Jack, on top of his "chula" war ship, trying to find the Doctor. When she asks him "how will you find him?" he responds "I'll just do a scan for alien life", she then explains "finally... a professional". I think something like that happened :). Either way it made me laugh.

Oh and Heroes was awesome (as usual) last nite, wasn't it? It's interesting how all the characters are connected but don't know it! :)

Interesting week.

So last week was fun :).

On Thursday, I decided to join Whitney ([info]bloodylovecraft) and Steffy ([info]dragontamerno3) on a trip to the Buffy meetup on Thursday. I heard that Whitney was going to come down to pick up Steffy who lives a few miles from me, and i asked if she could pick me up too :). She was super awesome and said she could :).

The drive up to the meetup wasn't so fun. We ended up hitting rush hour traffic, but we had a blast just talking and hanging out in the car. After successfully, getting through the traffic and dodging crazy truck drivers, we arrived at the cafe. We were welcomed by a large group of shiny folk, and proceeded to try to finding some room to sit and eat :). The turn out was really awesome, and i got to meet some interesting people :). I wasn't all that sure what to order at the resturaunt so after trying Whitney's Yoinkny (dang ill never learn how to spell that!) with Marinara, i decided to try getting that. The food was really good, and different so it was a nice change of pace from other restaurants i usually go too :). Time flew by, like it does when one is with good friends and good food, and we headed home. We dropped Suzanne, off at her place before heading out on the 405, and we got to see the "crack house" *laughs* near her place :P. We got on the freeway and headed home. Whitney dropped me off, i thanked her and Steffy and told them I'd see them tomorrow for Brian's Birthday :), and that we should do this again.

The next nite, i gave Steffy a ride to Sebastian's Restaurant for my pal Brian's ([info]brianrubin birthday bash! We got there surprisingly on time, even before the guy we were celebrating for :P. He had a little problem with traffic, apparently the 405 was messed up big time! We ordered food, and had a few drinks with some good friends. It was just great seeing everyone :D, celebrating a very shiny occasion.

Unfortunately, as the party progressed i noticed Whitney hadn't shown up yet. Considering she lives relatively close, i got a little concerned, she should have been there by now. But stupidly didn't go get my phone, which was in my car. She had actually gotten lost, and had texted me. I kinda feel bad for not having been able to help her out, but she was able to find her way. I decided to buy a round of shots, but nobody really wanted to have any :) , but i bought like 5 of them for those who wanted them. The shots of vodka were huge, more like a double shot lol. I passed around the shots, and one to the birthday boy, and downed the sucker. Time kind of flew by and it was time to head out, we parted ways and me and Steffy hit the road.

When I got back home after dropping Steffy, Whitney called me. She was asking for Steffy (who doesnt have a cell phone). She didn't realize we actually got home pretty quickly, and thought we were still in the car. I asked her what was up, and she said she thinks she was robbed. I was pretty shocked, and asked her if she was okay, she said she was. She was driving to Ontario so i let her go, and then let Steffy know that Whitney was looking for her. Hopefully the Police can find her stuff.

Saturday I spent time with my folks, and saw Babel. Babel was not to bad, a little bit of a downer, but interesting. Though i think the movie was trying to be too much like Crash, but wasn't as good, in my opinion. Oh also on Saturday, i watched a lot of Doctor Who :).

Sunday, More Who :) , and then went to drop my brother back to school in Riverside. Did some Laundry and watched a lot more Doctor Who. I'm almost done with the first series! I'm really enjoying it.

Ooh yay Heroes tonite! :D

Doctor Who

So my good buddy [info]sarumann was awesome enough to lend me his copy of Doctor Who Series 1. And im currently just watching the first episode, and the Doctor is introducing himself to Rose.

Doctor :"I'm the doctor by the way, what is your name?"
Rose : "Rose"
Doctor :"Nice to meet you Rose... Run for your life!"

LOL, oh boy this is going to be a fun ride. Thanks Josh! :D

Frak.

I just realized, that I'm starting to not hate my job so much. And well thats starting to scare me! I haven't heard from rhythm and hues yet. I sent them an email a few days after my interview. I'm wondering if i should follow up again.

But the fact that I'm starting to "settle" with what i have, is really scary. I guess it's a fear of mine, i don't want to be like everyone else. Not that it's bad but i know i can do better. Unfortunately I've just been to tired to start really looking. I guess I don't have to worry right now but maybe in a year.

Still i kind of had a rude awakening just now.

tonite should be a lot of fun, celebrating my buddy [info]brianrubin birthday! It should be a great time :P. I'll also be giving [info]dragontamerno3 a ride up to the party :). Can't wait to see all my friends, yipee thank god it's friday!

I love the 80's :)

So I'm listening to my new mp3 player, the Sandisk Sans 250R, and it has the capability to connect to the music sharing network Rhapsody. Anyway i popped my mp3 player into my computer over nite so it would charge. When i started to play it, i noticed that some of the "rhapsody channels" had some new music on there. Specifcally there was a section called "new wave". I started to listen to it and all the songs were basically from the 80's.

I was born in 82, so I guess you could say i was an 80's child. I loved the time, and i remember most of it. But i guess im more of a 90's child considering i was mainly an infant through out the 80's, but i digress. Still love it though :P.

Anyway i got a little nostalgic listening to all this great music, and I've always been a fan of the 80's in general. It was just an awesome time filled with awesome stuff. One thing i loved about the 80's was that movies, music, and TV, were much more original. Now a days it seems everything is the same and overly formulaic. You couldn't make half the films made during that era now, it wouldn't get based movie executives. At least it feels that way.

Anyway whatever.. To the 80's!

oh and i had a super great weekend, more on that later. :p

TV and Hair

So last nite I went to get my hair cut. I was a little reluctant to cut my hair, but i guess i always am. Something about change sometimes doesnt sit well with me. Anyway i get there, and talk to my hair stylist I'm thinking of possibly growing my hair out. Like I've mentioned before I used to shoulder length hair, but have since cut it because i was trying to find a job. Cuz my hair is so thick and wavy, it just looks like a wierd "fro" when it gets to a certain length, and it just looks gross. So i just decided to cut it all off, but Yelena (my russian hairstylist, who is so dang cute :P ) told me i could try to "thin" my hair. Now her English inst so good, so i wasn't sure what she meant by "thinning" my hair, which to me sounded a little extreme. But she told me about the technique, which basically meant she uses a special pair of scissors and cuts at certain areas of the hair to get rid of the extra hair at the roots but leaves other hair to keep it looking long.

I looked up at my head and said "why not!", if i didnt like i'd just cut it shorter and be done with it. Long story short, I was pretty happy with the results. My hair retained its length but didnt look like a puffy hair bush. So im going to stick with this and see how it works when hair is a little longer :).

Oh ya TV. I've started to compile a bunch of shows im planning on watching or completing or catching up on :).

feel free to list any that i should check out :).

-Buffy
-Angel
-Doctor Whoo
-Supernatural - (watched a good portion of the show, but not ever single one, its pretty good)
-SG-1
-Atlantis
-Torchwood
-House
-Bones (maybe started to get bored of it..)
-VM (hear nothing but things so im going to check it out.

WORDS WOMEN USE

Disclaimer - Oh hello, I received this via email from one of my friends who is a woman. I thought this was super funny so i thought I'd post it. Enjoy? :)

FINE
This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you
need to shut up.

FIVE MINUTES
If she is getting dressed, this is half an hour. Five minutes is only five
minutes if you have just been given 5 more minutes to watch the game before
helping around the house.

NOTHING
This is the calm before the storm. This means "something," and you should be
on your toes. Arguments that begin with 'Nothing' usually end in "Fine"

GO AHEAD
This is a dare, not permission. Don't do it.

LOUD SIGH
This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often
misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot and
wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over
"Nothing"

THAT'S OKAY
This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man.
"That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before deciding
how and when you will pay for your mistake.

THANKS
A woman is thanking you. Do not question it or faint. Just say you're
welcome.

Send this to the men you know to warn them about future arguments they can
avoid if they remember the terminology!

And send it to your women friends to give them a good laugh!

Oh, and before we forget

"Whatever"!!

...it's a woman's way of saying *!#@ YOU!

Gadgets

I've decided to get me a digital camera. It hit me during the shindig on Saturday with [info]bloodylovecraft mentioning how she loved her new camera and me realizing i could actually afford one now (yay to having cashy money!), that I've decided to get one finally.

I first was thinking of getting a camera phone, that way i didn't have to carry a million things where i go. But luckily for me i thought about it a little more, and realized a phone that works well as a phone and camera that works very well as a camera, work a million times better than a phone camera. Besides now that i think about it , all the transferring of files via the phone to one's computer is a pain in the ass. Plus I think the evil cell phone companies charge you extra when sending files through their network or something like that. So forget it!

With that said, what phone to get? I want to get something smaller and compact, but will give me a good picture. That way i can just bring it with me where I go. I guess some researching is afoot! Suggestions welcom :).

In other news, i finally got caught up with heroes and BSG! Heroes was great, looking forward to next monday's episode. I wonder if Mohinder has any powers :), i kinda hope he does hehe. the ending was awesome too, with the new "invisible man" guy...i wonder if he's a good guy or not.
I've also decided to not watch 24 on Monday's, and probably just tape it. Unless 24 because super good for some reason, I'd rather just watch heroes.

BSG was just great as usual, i love that show so much. Just some great characters, and interesting storyline.

Oh I'm also debating whether I should get a hair cut , or just start growing out my hair again. I'm sure a lot of you never really met me when i had my long hair, maybe Brian at the first "can't stop the serenity screening" for like a split second when i got my ticket heh. I'll have to post some pictures. But im starting remember how lame it was growing the hair was, im in that yucky "semi-fro" stage. Bleh

EDIT - Well I decided to just go and get a haircut. If i end up getting this other job, that lets me have hair i want, then I'll grow it out :).

<3 LJ

Back when i started this LJ in uh 2001. I never really utilized it like it should have been. Luckily after six years I've learned a few things. I've started to add friends to my LJ and I just love the "Friend's Page". It an awesome page that crams all the awesome ramblings of my friends in one easy to read place! On top of that, ive just stumbled upon the RSS feeds. I never really tried subscribing to them before, but now with LJ and its super easy to use interface, I can subscribe to a bunch of feeds and easily check them all out at!

I know you must be reading this and wondering, where the hell have i been...but im just kind of realizing how awesome this whole place is! And to think i was wasting my time on Myspace.

Well live and learn i guess... Live and Learn. funny thing is i found the page that has the top 1000 rss feeds, i went a littly crazy and subscribed to too many. So my friend's page is filled with a bunch of stuff, and almost hard to find actual posts from my actual friends lol. Maybe they should have a "My RSS Feeds" page lol. Or do that have that already?
